About Rodger

Born and raised in the Netherlands. Came to the US in the early eighties. Enlisted in the Air Force as an E-1. Three and a half years later, he was a U.S. citizen, had a bachelor's degree, and had a class date for Air Force Officer Training School (OTS). In 1998, Rodger took what was then briefly offered, a 15-year retirement option, so he could fulfill his dream of joining a startup company. You can read all about his career on his LinkedIn profile page. Suffice it to say, Rodger has been very active and has a very diverse and interesting background.

I've spent 25+ years building, transforming, and leading technology organizations—and the last ten helping executives do the same. Before becoming a coach, I did the work: built engineering teams from scratch at two startups, co-invented a patented Smart Grid product (two U.S. patents), led global software organizations across three continents, wrote & re-architected weapons guidance code for the E-3 AWACS, and got elected to the Raleigh City Council in between. That background matters because I don't coach from theory. When I tell a CIO her value streams are misaligned, or his DevOps pipeline is theater, I'm speaking from experience building and shipping real products to real customers—eBay, VISA, Boeing, Microsoft, the FAA, the U.S. Navy, and dozens of national utilities. Recent results: → Allstate Data Science (AI/ML division)—reduced AI model time-to-market from months to weeks by realigning the org to outcomes over activity. → Allstate Business Insurance—partnered with the division president, cut commercial product time-to-market by 30% via Value Stream Mapping and Lean Portfolio Management. → Sentara Health—designed Sentara's first DevOps Dojo; the inaugural cohort retired 80% of their codebase as obsolete and quadrupled test automation. → Ipreo (FinTech)—saved 200,000+ annual analyst hours and accelerated software delivery 3x through DevOps adoption and automation; completed SAFe transformation in six months, which became the template for the rest of the company. → Allstate worldwide—coached and certified 1,000+ people; presented at three Global Learning Days reaching 5,000+ employees in the U.S., India, and Northern Ireland. Today, I focus on the intersection of AI adoption and organizational transformation. I work with C-suite leaders, their direct reports, and their teams. I've launched 20+ Agile Release Trains and trained 18 RTEs to certification. I'm a SAFe 6 Practice Consultant and certified to teach the entire SAFe curriculum. Before all this, I served 15 years as a USAF officer: AWACS weapons director, aide-de-camp to the brigadier general commanding the CENTCOM Counter-Terrorism Unit in Riyadh, and HQ Air Combat Command communications staff officer, where I authored the CONOPS for the $1.2B Global Broadcast System. Distinguished Graduate of Squadron Officer School and the Automated Weapons Controller School. Air Force Meritorious Service Medal. Native Dutch speaker. Three degrees, including a master's from Boston University. Three years performing at improv shows. Instrument-rated private pilot with 15 hours of acrobatics.

I'd love to speak with you about all your Organizational Change Management and Agile Transformation needs.
